Read 'American View of India' - i guess stereotypes dont go. I hv a small grouse with some filmmakers also - now what was the sense of deepa mehta to make a film for largely foreign audience showing widow-suppression of 1930's and ending it with the card 'there are 31 million widows in india (2001) ' - as if that stats prove that their condition is similar to what she has shown in the film!!! I hvnt seen the film so cant comment much, but what i read didnt seem right. Same goes for Bride and Prejudice - all the indian portion was spluttering autos, elephants in weddings, cows etc... come on, there are better things to show!
About American poverty/rural area, seriously i was myself very surprised when kaush told me about her visit ... my first reaction was , 'achcha america mein bhi aisi jagah hoti hai' ...
@DJ. lol dont worry...i wont bite! LOL. about the filmakers....tats a very good point! i havent seen the deepa mehta film either but definately in bride n prejudice. yup..america mein bhi!!
